Fitness Log
A livfit daily fitness journal, by P.CAN
I thought it would be interesting to create a fitness journal/diary for myself and the Livfit family members…A journal where you can be encouraged and strengthened by the challenges, victories and stories of other family members.
My fitness journey:
One of my goals this year was to finish the Olympic distance triathlon without the leg cramp and with a better time than last year; I am happy to say “mission accomplished” (last year time 2:59, this year 2:52) despite my lack of training time. On average, I could probably only put in three days per week, one for each discipline. My greatest struggle during the race was a tight lower back during the run, I always struggle with lower back pains when I don’t do enough lower back conditioning.
As I set my goals for next year, I must keep in mind my overall fitness goals. Why do I exercise? (in no particular order): I enjoy it – the sweat, the intensity, the challenge; it’s just a part of my make up. If I don’t exercise, I am not nice to be around. From a professional perspective, exercise releases endorphins. Secondly, I want to be able to run, jump, climb, push, pull, bike and swim for as long as possible. I can’t stop the process of aging; however, getting old will never be an excuse for not pushing the limit. I want my grandchildren to work hard to stay up with me. I do understand that there are things in life out of our control; however, for as long as God gives me the strength and the ability, letting myself get out of shape is not a part of the plan. I see 65 year old triathletes who are kicking my butt, at every event. I want to be that 65 year old kicking butt! Thirdly, I enjoy competition and the challenge. I don’t mind losing, as long as I competed to win, within the limits of my time and ability.
For the next few days, I will think about my goals for the next year, my daily fitness routine, etc. I will post the major goals on the livfit family goal board and share the daily ones on this blog. My hope is that you are encouraged and motivated to pursue your own goals and endure through the challenges of living a lifestyle of fitness.
